Frequently Asked Questions

What types of wounds do you treat?

We treat a wide range of acute and chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure injuries (bed sores), venous stasis ulcers, surgical wounds, traumatic wounds, infected wounds, and non-healing wounds. Our providers specialize in advanced wound care techniques to promote healing and prevent complications.

Do you offer mobile or in-home wound care?

Yes. We provide mobile wound care services for eligible patients in Orlando and surrounding Central Florida areas. When medically appropriate, our providers can evaluate and treat wounds in the patient’s home, reducing the need for travel or repeated clinic visits. Click Get Prequalified and we will determine if you are eligible.

Do you also see patients in the office?

Yes. Patients may be seen in our clinic or through mobile wound care, depending on their medical needs, insurance coverage, and treatment plan. We tailor care to what is safest and most effective for each patient. Click Get Prequalified to see if you are eligible.

Do you only treat Medicare patients?

No. While Medicare Part B covers many wound care services, we also treat patients with Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and many commercial insurance plans. Coverage varies by plan and setting, and our team will help verify benefits prior to treatment.

Does insurance cover in-home wound care?

In many cases, yes. Medicare Part B, Medicare Advantage plans, and some commercial insurance plans may cover medically necessary in-home wound care. Coverage depends on diagnosis, medical necessity, and payer guidelines. Our staff will assist with insurance verification and authorization when required.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Orlando and surrounding Central Florida communities, including all of Orange County, Osceola County, Seminole County, and Lake County. Mobile services are provided based on location and clinical appropriateness

Do I need a referral?

A referral is not always required, but some insurance plans may require one. We work with primary care providers, specialists, hospitals, home health agencies, and facilities. Our team can help determine if a referral is needed for your specific plan.

How quickly can a patient be seen?

We strive to offer prompt appointments, often within the same week. Early intervention is critical for wound healing, especially for diabetic or infected wounds.

What happens during a wound care visit?

A visit typically includes a thorough wound evaluation, measurement, assessment of circulation and infection risk, development of a personalized treatment plan, and appropriate wound care procedures such as debridement and skin graft or skin graft substitute applications, or advanced dressings when indicated.

Can wound care help prevent amputation?

Yes. Early and specialized wound care—especially for diabetic foot ulcers—can significantly reduce the risk of infection, hospitalization, and amputation. Prompt treatment improves outcomes.

How do I schedule an appointment or referral?

You can call our office or submit a referral request through our website. Our team will guide you through scheduling, insurance verification, and next step or by calling us at 407-987-6594.

Who provides the wound care?

Care is provided by experienced medical professionals with advanced training in wound management, backed by the resources and clinical oversight of Hill Orthopedic Center.
